FAQ
Where do we meet?
Folly Beach Boat Landing
97 Center St.
Folly Beach, SC 29439

Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled charter time for a quick briefing. This will not cut into your charter time if you arrive early. The captain will greet you at the dock to show you to the boat.
How many people can we bring?
Uncle Charlie's Charters can accommodate up to 4 people on each charter to ensure the comfort and safety of each passenger.
Where do we park?
The Folly Beach Boat Landing (located to the right immediately after driving over the last bridge as you enter Folly Beach) does not have many parking spaces for vehicles without trailers. There are some spots located to your immediate left in the shade as you enter the boat landing. If you park in any other spot in the parking lot you will get a ticket. Uncle Charlie's Charters is not responsible for any parking tickets or parking fees received during your charter.
If the limited spaces in the boat landing lot are full continue down Folly Rd. past the boat landing. You can find free parking along Center St. (note: these are mostly 2 hour spots). Or can park on a side street. If you park on a side street you MUST make sure to find a spot that is not blocking a cross-walk or driveway, facing the same direction as moving traffic and ensure that your tires are not on the concrete/road or touching any lines.

Taking an Uber or Lyft can be tricky. Catching an Uber or Lyft can be easy in more central areas of Charleston like downtown however finding one to leave Folly Beach or the Folly Beach Boat Landing may be difficult and often impossible depending on where the drivers are located.
Where can we meet the Captain?
The Captain will greet you on the dock at the Folly Beach Boat Landing. They will escort you to the boat from there and assist with any personal belongings you bring along.

Please aim to arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled charter time. All charters will start with a short briefing once all passengers arrive.
What should we expect on our charter?
What makes Uncle Charlie's Charters unique is that we cater each cruise to each client. Prior to your charter date you will receive a phone call to collect some info on what you'd like to accomplish during your charter; Most of our charters will involve dolphin watching and getting to view the Morris Island Lighthouse. In addition to our regular charter experience we can add on an hour or two if desired to hunt for fossils, shark teeth and sand dollars on Morris Island. We will try our best to curate your ideal experience on the water.

What should we bring with us?
We provide water and depending on your charter we may also provide snacks and other beverages for you to enjoy. However you are welcome to bring any snacks or drinks that you would like! Please do not bring your own cooler, we have a cooler on board that can accommodate your drinks and snacks. Adults 21 years or older may bring alcoholic beverages, but please do not bring glass bottles on board and always be responsible. Glass is not allowed on the boat.

Uncle Charlie's Charters does not provide alcohol.
What should we wear?
It is often a few degrees cooler on the water than on the mainland. Spray from the ocean may get you wet, but you will not be soaked. Please dress accordingly with the current weather in mind. It's better to be comfortably warm and have too many layers than cold with nothing else to wear!
How do we add gratuity?
We are in the hospitality business, so we accept tips based on your onboard experience. We accept tips in any form that is easiest for you, including cash, credit card or Venmo.
Can we fit more people on board?
Unfortunately, no. Uncle Charlie's Charters falls under the U.S. Coast Guard rules and regulations, which dictates the maximum number of guests we can safely have on our boat. We also want to ensure that everyone is seated safely and comfortably throughout the cruise which is why it is important we don't crowd the boat with additional guests besides what is described in your charter description.
